Calling all Campus Advisors! Richard Milburn Academy seeks a High School ESE Teacher for the 2025/2026 School Year!

Job Purpose: To provide interactive services on the school campus with students in order to achieve a safe and nurturing environment for all students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES (include but are not limited to):

1. Assist in the application of the Code of Student Conduct of Volusia County Schools and report any violations to the administrator of the site or designee.

2. Monitor and supervise student behavior in campus hallways, restrooms, lunch rooms, school bus transportation areas, parking lots and school perimeter as assigned, including during passage to special areas for instruction or intervention.

3. Report areas of the campus in need of attention due to graffiti, litter, maintenance or safety hazards.

4. Monitor student movement to classes throughout the day during class changes, breaks, lunch periods and times before and after schools hours and encourage students to arrive to classes on time.

5. Provide the instructional and administrative staff with information regarding student behavior in the instructional settings throughout the day.

6. Assist in the supervision of student breaks as scheduled on the campus.

7. Supervise classrooms as needed and assigned.

8. Assist substitute teachers or support personnel as necessary, including the periodic monitoring of classrooms with substitute teacher assignments.

9. Monitor and/or record visitors to the campus.

10. Assist with student behavior control during special events, assemblies, lock–downs, or in-school performances, including the removal of students from a classroom or setting if necessary.

11. Assist with school investigations conducted by the school administration as assigned.

12. Remain available to students for individual assistance as appropriate or needed.

13. Maintain communication and respond quickly with other staff members as required.

14. Practice positive communication techniques with students, staff and parents on the campus.

15. Assist in security activities as assigned by the Principal

16. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent. 

2.Experience in working with adolescents.

3. Willingness to work with crisis intervention and security measures.

4. Knowledge of disruptive behavior indicators preferred.

5. Ability to communicate with students and staff.

6. Ability to relate to students of diverse backgrounds and provide sound and effective human relations skills.

7. Knowledge of substance abuse indicators preferred.

8. Strong human relations skills • Willingness to work as a team member.

9. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

10. Ability to handle sensitive or personal information in a confidential manner.

11. Willingness to stay current with policies and rules governing school operations.

12. Willingness to participate in skill development activities.

13.  Basic computer and technological communication skills as assigned.
